Shortly after the new school year began, the journey undertaken by the “Noi vong tay lon” Charity Group of Minh Tam Medical Equipment Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh, brought warmth and support to some of the most vulnerable families in the mountainous commune of Son Dong.
Following narrow, winding village roads - some barely wide enough for one person - the delegation visited old, deteriorating homes. Behind each fragile door was a deeply moving story.
One child had been born less than a month before their father passed away in an accident. With no home of their own, the mother and her three children had to live in rented accommodation, yet the child continued striving in silence and was admitted to a leading school. Another young student faces congenital diabetes every day while helping their mother get by in a small, run-down home measuring just 30 square meters.
Perhaps the most heartbreaking was the story of Thuong Hien, a young girl from Dong Phe Village, who is growing up alongside her mother, who is suffering from end-stage liver cancer. Her eyes filled with tears as the charity group asked about her situation. As the delegation said goodbye, the volunteers carried a heavy question in their hearts: When her only source of support is no longer there, how will she face the storms of life?
Every scholarship, gift package, and reassuring embrace offered that day was more than a gesture of material support. Each one helped ease the burdens and worries these families face, while rekindling hope for dreams that seemed close to fading away.
As we left Son Dong Commune, while Bac Ninh City entered a new chapter of development, we carried with us a belief that social welfare policies will continue to expand and provide greater support for vulnerable children - so that no orphaned child has to give up on their dream of going to school.
In the time ahead, the “Noi vong tay lon” Charity Fund will continue connecting generous hearts and joining hands to build a more compassionate community - where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and pursue their own dreams.
